Some answers to your possible questions…

How long does the workshop last?

This is a full five-day class—which meets I.R.I.S. guidelines. Class starts each morning at 8:30am and ends around 6:00pm Monday – Thursday.
Fridays we try to end the class by 4:00pm.

How many students are in the class?

We limit the class size to 5 to ensure personal attention and greater student participation.

Will I get hands-on experience?

Yes, we will be going to four homes to do hands on interior redesigns and home stagings. There will be ongoing instruction during the redesigns and stagings applied to the specific details of the rooms we are doing.

How are Interior Redesign and Home Staging different?

Interior Redesign is all about the homeowner; furniture and accessories are placed with consideration to their lifestyle and personal preferences by an interior redesigner. Home staging is all about the house; trying to make the strongest possible first impression on the potential home buyer is the goal of a home stager.

Do I need previous experience?

You do not need a degree or previous experience. What you need is a passion for interior design and the desire to start your own business. If you have been told time and again how well you decorate then you “have it”. That is, the talent to become a successful redesigner.

How much physical work is involved? Can I do this alone?

During class, you will be moving furniture with the help of the other students as well as with furniture sliders. Once you get out on your own, you are the one who moves the furniture. However, if you have physical limitations, some interior redesigners hire an assistant to help with the heavy work.

Will I be eligible to join I.R.I.S.?

Yes. When you complete this class, you will be eligible to join the premier redesign association, benefiting from the organization’s marketing, national recognition, networking and referral services.

Do I need to work full time?

No, you can work as much or as little as you wish. You will be your our own boss, and it will be your own company. It is entirely up to you how much you will work. Some redesigners continue in another job and redesign on the side; others have made it their full time career.

How much money can I make?

The industry average is $75 for a one-hour consultation, and $300 per room. It is up to you how many redesigns and consultations you do a week.

  How do I find clients?

What do I need to bring to the workshop?

Comfortably! We will be in class during the morning, and then we go directly to the job sites. Suggested attire: comfortable layers-it can be cool in class and hot while moving furniture during the redesigns. Khakis, capris, or comfortable knits are fine. No jeans, please.
